Hey gang,
I'm back, and of course still on vacation in my mind...
We had a fabulous time! Got upgraded to SL (I wondered if you knew that already, Kelly, and kept it from me for a big surprise). The CM who checked us in was so good, and at the end of the "tour" (this time, we got the correct check-in for club level, Channing...), he asked if I had any questions. I said, yes, can we have a tour of the Walt suite? He obliged, and we got to see it, take pictures, and of course, fantasize about staying in it ourselves!
The weather was wonderful the whole week, the crowds not bad at all (we practically walked on most rides) and all the CMs we met and chatted with just added to the whole experience.

...isn't it amazing wiht all the cool art and photos? That is great you got to see it!
Since you were up there....did yiou checjk out the RPC lounge area and anything else up there? Who was the CM? *curious minds*
How was your cabana? I just reserved one for my bday.

We did book a bounceback...but just a weekend specifically to see the Main St. Elec. parade, and at the WL this time (the end of July). Of course, we wanted to stay at the GF again, but I felt guilty booking it so soon. I have every intention of talking my sister into booking a longer visit again toward the end of the year, with the bounceback I assume we will be offered in July. I told an RPC lobby concierge CM that I feel the most "at home" in the GF, and my sister admitted that her heart is there too.
Our cabana day was fun, but our attendant was not as good as the one we had in August. Matter of fact, the cabana was not ready for us in terms of food and drink or the welcoming sign with our name on it like last year. I was slightly disappointed. I hope you get the royal treatment for your birthday reservation!!
Of course I absolutely loved being in the Walt suite (and thought of your upgrade there in the past), seeing the pictures, and other decor. Isn't that master bathroom fabulous?!?
We did walk by the RPC lounge on the way back down, and tho I don't know the CMs up there, I did see one who might have been Vonnie, by the photos somebody has posted here. I got a quick glance at her, and there was another female she was talking to. No one else was there at the time. BTW, there was a CM by the name of Joe in the SL lounge one day. Is "your" Joe, a tall young guy?
I thought the new food offerings were better than our last visit. How did you feel about them when you were there with the gals?
Kathy, hmmm that is crummy about the cabana not being ready and the service
...the price has gone up, right?!? I think they told me like $115/or so - I chose the 10 to 2 time frame since the pool is so nice and quiet during the earlier hours...I figured I"d treat myself to it instead of sweltering in the July heat....but I am only doing the cabana the one day. What time did you rent it? Do you remember if they had music and kids' activities going on?? I bet those start about 1 or so....but my 10 yr old will be happy to join in.
My pal Joe is actually older than I am.... he is tall, dark and handsome.
But he's probably 47 ish.. ...he told me he's a few years older than I am.
I agree about the food...they've finally done something different than gray meat on a stick.
The bfast etc was all the same til the evening when we were there. We had some pretty good and tasty things during the appetizers.
I originally had a YC/GF/WL split booked....I finally chopped off the WL days. We'll have to try it another trip.
(the wl is the only one I haven't stayed at & I was looking forward to it!) I just didn't want to do all that moving.....and I was able to add on another GF day so I am set with 4 nts YC and then 6 at GF. I cannot wait.

Did you have pool or marina view..another inquiring mind!! LOL!! I am a big SL fan! I think that the new evening offerings in the lounge are a nice change too....
Sorry that your cabana day was not up to par..for the price that they charge it should have been wonderful...
Channing We like the 10 to 2 cabana time best too...How nice that you booked one for your birthday! Hopefully you will have a better cabana attendant than Kathy did!
Glad that you booked a bounce bak too..that always makes getting back to every day a little better...Myabe you'll do a WL TR for us when you go...

Channing, I booked the 10 to 2 slot. (and yes, it has gone up to $117, which includes tax, for half a day) Very quiet, not many people yet...at least not til afternoon. The activities start about 2-ish, I think. The dancing, games, treasure hunts, etc. They had some Disney college kids helping with that, I was told.
So, the "Joe" I saw was not "your Joe" then. I just wondered. We had a cute guy named Zach, tho!
Re: the lounge food...no grey meat on a stick for us either, tho one day we had a chicken, pineapple and pepper skewer. I loved alot of the new "appies"! Shrimp beignets, duck wontons, spring rolls...I could go on!!
We like the WL, and until the GF won our hearts, it was the fave. It's our "go-to" affordable resort now, I guess.
BlueSkies (is it Deb?), we had a marina view for the first time. It was heavenly to go out on the balcony in the morning and evening, feel the cool breezes (I'm telling you, those breezes made us feel like we were at the beach more than once!) and watch people. We could even see alot of the fireworks from our balcony...but not the castle. BTW, is the marina view an upgrade or the same as the pool view in SL?
I really like SL. There were some great CMs who were very helpful.

So glad you had a nice vacation...WTG on the upgrade to SL....we love staying in SL...glad you enjoyed your cabana day...for those prices everything should be waiting and ready for you....

That's so great you were upgraded to SL! Too bad the cabana day was less than stellar. I agree with everyone else that with the price you pay everything should be perfect and set up ahead of time!
Glad you had a great trip. Congrats on the upgrade. The marina view is considered garden view, same as courtyard view.
Yay for booking a bounceback. I do believe the ticker fairy would need to know your dates.

But bummer about the cabana. It really bums me out when the GF isn't on top of things like they should. It puts such a bad cast on the "flagship resort"

Thanks, Kristin. I HAD to book a BB just to keep from being so down about leaving...you know the drill.
As for the cabana day, I was really surprised that it was not "guest ready" when we arrived...and we were even 10 minutes late, to boot!
BTW, if the ticker fairy wants to visit, our weekend stay starts the 30th of July!!
And, it's a visit to the WL this time..

No, no, no! No naps in the cabana! You can do that in the room...
gotta enjoy the pampered feeling of being waited on, out of the sun. We even had our own tiara to wear, courtesy of my visiting cousin..
I thought of something else I wanted to mention about last week at SL...
do any of you know if the phone call from concierge (each evening) with the next day's forecast and park hours is a new thing? I don't remember it from the previous stays there.
