Here is where you will find information on the cabins at Fort Wilderness. Happy planning!

The cabins are a unique resort experience at WDW, offering spacious and comfy accommodations in a great outdoor setting. Cabins are complete with a full kitchen, charcoal grill, dishwasher, cable TV, and DVD players. There is parking for 1 vehicle and a golf cart at each cabin. Cabins also receive full housekeeping daily.

Cabins are located in the 2100 through 2800 loops of Fort Wilderness as seen by the map HERE.
Each "loop" is a one-way road lined with between 30 to 72 individual cabins. At the end of each cabin loop is a bus stop, with buses that service the "Purple" route to either the "Outpost" or "Settlement". These buses will be labeled "Outpost Purple" or "Settlement Purple" depending on the direction they are traveling.

The Outpost area is the Front Desk/main parking area. Here you can get bus transportation to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach. This is also where the Kennel is located, and where you meet up for the Horseback Trail Rides.

The Settlement area
is located near Bay Lake. Here you can visit the Settlement Trading Post, the Tri-Circle D Ranch, Pioneer Hall, the Marina, Clementine Beach, and the boat launch. The Tri-Circle D Ranch is home to the "Show" horses of WDW (the ones that pull the carriages and are used on Main Street), as well as pony rides and a small display of famous Disney horses (and Minnie Moo!). Pioneer Hall is home to Trails End Buffet (best cornbread in town!), The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review, Guest Services (for tickets/dining), and the now defunct Crockett's Tavern. At the boat launch you can get transportation to the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, and Contemporary Resort.

That's getting to be pretty pricey for the carts. My husband and kids love the Fort. We have enjoyed many stays at the cabins and part of the fun is the golf carts. It's like another ride to the kids - they love them. Riding around in the evenings during the holidays when the campers have their sites decorated is especially fun.

I understand there are offsite vendors now you can rent from who will deliver the carts to Ft. W. and charge much less than Disney. I belive they have a minimum amount of nights required, though.
Nice pictures, it is really beautiful cabin and really a calm place. There are quite a few excellent playgrounds around the property. If you want something different so it is perfect typical Disney spot. We were there in Nov 2009 and stayed in one of the cabins. The cabins were clean and comfy. We paid rent a golf cart ($55/day) and really enjoyed there.

Best Regards,

Overview:

Fort Wilderness Map

From 1973 through to 1980, Fort Wilderness featured a 3½-mile long steam-powered railroad (titled the “Fort Wilderness Railroad”) that provided transportation around the resort grounds to campers and guests visiting the nearby River Country water park. The railroad was removed in the early 1980s. Some of the track is still in place around outlying areas of the campground.

The resort hosts two dinner shows, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ. Other amenities include playgrounds, two heated swimming pools, a buffet, the Trail’s End Restaurant, as well as other activities, such as fishing, horseback riding, and a 2.3 mile paved and sand exercise trail that runs from the petting farm to the Wilderness Lodge. There are showers, a laundry room, restrooms, and a newspaper outlet located in the Comfort Station on every loop

The campground features a free nightly Campfire Sing-Along with Chip ‘n Dale where a Disney Cast Member leads songs in an outdoor amphitheater while the characters Chip ‘n Dale go to seated audience members, signing autographs and posing for photos. Two firepits are available for roasting marshmallows and making S’mores. Guests may bring their own marshmallows and roasting sticks or kits can be purchased at the snack shop. Following the sing-along, a Disney children’s movie is shown on an outdoor screen. Also at night the Electrical Water Pageant passes the beach and marina.
